Human Nature

(2020) So much of who we are as people are the place we have been. This series illustrates the relation between the two. Exploring elements of the nature of humans in society and tying it in with the nature of the earth. By using multiple contrasting elements that are complementary to each other in the images to further express the innate uniqueness of each landscape and person. Starting with the blending of the early cyanotype printing process a foundation is laid with an environmental image much like in the way the earth is the foundation for the history of society. Overlaid with digitally made transparencies of varying portraits that celebrate the diversity of a community. A simple reminder that the human population is more than the generic archetype that is seen repeated throughout the media. Bringing the individual images together as a whole adds an element of connectivity to not only the people and the scene they are portrayed with but to each other as a whole.
